Early abortions can be performed using one of two methods; the surgical procedure or the medical abortion method commonly using Abortion pill. Methotrexate and Tomaxifen have been used along with cytotec to end pregnancies early in gestation. The Mifeprex (mifepristone)|medical abortion pill (RU486)|Abortion pill} are routinely used to end pregnancies from 3.5 to 9 weeks pregnant. There is data out of Europe and South America where medical abortions are routinely done up to 14 weeks gestation
